Dagestani police looking for two accomplices in murder of National Guard officer
The main suspect is Hand-To-Hand Fighting World Champion Shakhban Machiev wounded by the return fire of a National Guard officer, is in hospital; two others, the brothers Magomed and Khaskil Yakubov, are currently wanted by the police.
Several sources and official press services of security agencies have provided new details of the murder of National Guard Lieutenant Murad Ramazanov in the Makhachkala club Best on the night of November 18, in which World Champion in hand-to-hand fighting Shakhban Machiev took part.
As reported on the website of the ICR Investigations Directorate in the Republic of Dagestan, which has initiated a criminal case under part 1 of Art. 105 (Murder) and part 1 of Art. 222 (Illegal Arms Trafficking), the investigation found that outside the restaurant club Best in Makhachkala on the night of November 18, 2018, an unidentified person fired shots at a 26-year-old resident of Makhachkala from a firearm. The victim died of multiple gunshot wounds, including to the head.
The press service of the National Guard in the Republic of Dagestan has confirmed that the victim was an employee of the Guard, noting that he was not on duty, but when he saw a group conflict at the cafe, he tried to stop it. In response, one of the parties to the conflict opened fire. The National Guard officer wounded the attacker with returned fire, but was himself lethally wounded.
Earlier, Interfax reported referring to a source that the National Guard officer was shot by a world champion in hand-to-hand fighting, without specifying the latter’s name. REN TV called him Khaskil Yakubov, noting that the attacker fled in a Lexus car, and Mash wrote that it was World Champion in Hand-To-Hand Fighting Shakhban Machiev, who was wounded to the thigh in the shootout with the National Guard officer, who committed the murder.
Later, a TASS source in security agencies said that Shakhban Machiev was the first suspect in the murder of the National Guard officer. He is currently the intensive care of the Republican Orthopedic and Traumatological Center; his condition is assessed as severe but stable.
According to RBC, the father of fighter Khabib Nurmagomedov, coach Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, called the athlete – who had repeatedly won the republican and international championships in hand-to-hand fighting as well as the world title – one of his most outstanding disciples.
Meanwhile, the TASS source specified that according to preliminary data, “there was a third party to the conflict, who also opened fire.” The multiple gunshot wounds that the dead officer suffered may indicate this.
Interfax-Yug notes that Machiev had two accomplices. The brothers Magomed and Khaskil Yakubov fled in a car immediately after shooting the National Guard officer; they are currently being wanted by police.
One of the brothers also won the world title in the past, but in combat sambo, which somewhat explains the confusion that arose at first. According to Interfax, had previously come to the attention of the law enforcers.
