Criminal case for drunken driving initiated against Volgograd regional Administration Head
With regard to Alexander Nevstruev the criminal case under Article 264.1 (Driving while intoxicated by the person subjected to administrative punishment for this act) is initiated.
Traffic officers stopped a 56-year-old official in the Soviet district of Volgograd. He was drunk, but refused to be examined for the presence of alcohol in the blood.
The Head of the Volgograd Kirov district Administration Alexander Nevstruev was detained on 22 October. It turned out that the Head of the Administration did not have driver's license, which he was lifted at the end of 2015 awarding a fine of 30 thousand rubles.
On October 24, 2 days after the violation, Nevstruev was fired from his post as the Head of the district Administration.
The prosecutors want the former Russian Federation Council member to go to prison for 14 years instead of 9 and pay a 500-million-ruble ($8.8 million) fine instead of 70 million rubles ($1.2 million).
