Court to consider case of businessman who deceived Kobzon for $25 million
The lawsuit was filed by the singer’s widow.
On December 11, the Moscow Arbitration Court scheduled a hearing on the lawsuit of the widow of the People's Artist of the USSR Iosif Kobzon, Ninel Kobzon, against businessman Vagif Peysakhov. The woman wants to recover $25 million belonging to her late spouse.
At the same time, the businessman himself filed a petition to declare him bankrupt. It was submitted only recently, on October 30, 2019.
Three years ago, the Odintsovo Court of the Moscow Region sentenced Peysakhov to 6 years for $25 million fraud. According to the investigation, the businessman often borrowed money from the singer for business development. In February 2014, the People’s Artist entered into 2 loan agreements worth $25 million with him, which was the total amount of Peysakhov’s debts.
But Peysakhov told Kobzon that he could not repay him the debt, since he had lost everything in poker. This was the final straw in friendly relations, and the singer turned to the police.
Investigators found that Peysakhov never intended to return the money.
