According to the arrestee, he was defending himself.
St. Petersburg court decided to leave 36-year-old Fetulakh Gamdulaev, who attacked metro passengers with a knife, at the remand centre. The incident took place on the Pushkinskaya metro station. According to the investigation, Fetulakh asked the men standing in front of them if they would get off. When they did not respond, he stabbed them several times. It turned out that the victims were deaf-mute, so they could not reply because they did not even hear the question.
Fetulakh objected to the arrest, since, according to his version of events, the deaf-mute men attacked him, and he defended himself. The victims Yury Smotrikov and Valery Ishchenko remain in hospital in serious condition.
