Chelyabinsk policeman hit two children by car at pedestrian crossing
The night before, on May 12, a Chelyabinsk police officer hit two children by his car at a regulated pedestrian crossing.
According to the press service of the regional MIA Main Directorate, the accident occurred at the intersection of Kommuna and Rossiyskaya streets on May 12 at 08:55 PM. The 46-year-old police officer behind the wheel of a Chevrolet hit two 9-year-old boys, who were crossing the road at a pedestrian crossing with the traffic light showing a green signal.
The person responsible for the accident called an ambulance and provided the children with first aid. The injured boys were hospitalized. According to doctors, one of them is in serious condition.
The medical examination revealed that the police officer was sober at the time of the accident.
The Chelyabinsk MIA is currently checking into the incident. In the event that the police officer is found guilty, he will be held accountable under the current legislation of the Russian Federation. In addition, he faces disciplinary punishment, including dismissal from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
