Chechnya names customer of terrorist attack at Grozny checkpoint
According to local authorities, the suicide bomber was trained for the Islamic State (IS), an organization banned in the territory of the Russian Federation.
Karina Spiridonova, who blew herself up at a checkpoint in Grozny, was being prepared for an act of terrorism by emissaries from the IS, RIA Novosti reports referring to the Chechen Minister for External Relations, Press and Information, Jambulat Umarov.
“This is another brainwashed victim of the IS,” Umarov responded. In his opinion, the terrorist organization chose Chechnya as a site of the terrorist attack because of the dynamic growth of the republic’s economy and Ramzan Kadyrov’s active work.
Spiridonova is a native of Adygea, she was 25 years old. At about 16:00 on November 16, she came to the checkpoint in the Staropromyslovsky District of Grozny with a suicide belt and set off an explosive device.
