Chechens and Ingush put up mass fight in colony
Representatives of the Chechen authorities have left for the colony.
Convicts of correctional colony number 3 in Kabardino-Balkaria put up a mass brawl. The incident involved Chechens and the Ingush, the press center of the Public Chamber of Chechnya reports. That said, the Chamber does not specify the date of the conflict.
To check information on the conflict between convicts, a delegation of the Chechen authorities led by State Duma deputy Adam Delimkhanov visited colony No. 3. The delegates met with convicts - natives of Chechnya and Ingushetia, as well as the management of the colony and the FSIN (Federal Penitentiary Service) Directorate for Kabardino-Balkaria.
The leadership of the colony, where the mass brawl took place, insists on the exclusively domestic nature of the conflict, it was not nationally motivated, the Chechen Public Chamber noted. The colony also reported on the works on reconciliation of the conflicting parties.
“The leadership of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia for the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic assured members of the Chechen delegation that all necessary measures would be taken to respect the rights of convicts,” the Chamber’s message reads.
Meanwhile, Kavkazsky Uzel writes that analysts have previously expressed fears that a conflict on national grounds could develop between the Chechens and the Ingush against the background of the dispute over the border of the republics.
