The girls have been recognized as victims of their father.

Investigators handed over an official dismissal of criminal proceedings against the father for torture and sexual harassment in connection with his death.

But it has been confirmed that the girls were abused. According to the defense, this can help the court recognize that the girls were driven to despair and acted within the limits of necessary self-defense. In that case, the criminal prosecution against them might be stopped.

According to a Kommersant source, the decision to dismiss the criminal proceedings against Mikhail Khachaturian was issued back at the end of July, but was not handed out until now.

All three sisters wrote statements against their father, accusing him of torture (Art. 117 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation), sexual abuse (Art. 132 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and sexual coercion (Art. 133 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).

Investigators believe that all that was happening since 2014, both in the apartment where the girls lived with their father and in other places. The case has not been opened so far in connection with Khachaturian’s death, however, if other of his family members demand that all suspicions be removed from him, the case will be opened, said lawyer of Angelina Khachaturian, 19, Alexei Parshin.

He added that the investigation into Khachaturian’s murder has been completed. The case file has about 30 volumes collected by the ICR. Officially, both the investigation period and the period of restrictions imposed by the court on the girls expire at the end of October.

“After the study of the preliminary investigation materials is completed, we are going to file a request to terminate the criminal prosecution of the girls, and if the investigator refuses to satisfy it, we will immediately file complaints to higher authorities,” Parshin explained to the publication, stressing that it’s obvious that the girls’ actions did not violate the limits of self-defense.

The three Khachaturian sisters - Krestina, Angelina and Maria - attacked their father in the apartment on the evening of July 27 last year. The girls inflicted several blows on the father with his own hunting knife and hammer. They explained their actions by their unbearable life with him.

According to reports, the 57-year-old businessman Mikhail Khachaturian had mental issues. Although that did not stop him from having a whole range of weapons - cold, pneumatic, gas, and traumatic ones.
