Bashkoktostan: disabled without legs and one arm person fined for unmowed grass
The regional ICR’s directorate launched a pre-investigation probe of the village council’s actions.
Employees of the administration of the Bashkir village of Kazanka will be checked for abuse of power, the regional Directorate of the Investigative Committee reports. The reason was the media reports about the legless and one-handed person, whom the village council fined for the unmowed lawn, which created a fire-dangerous situation.
Viktor Ananiev was fined 500 rubles ($ 8) and told that he could have paid three thousand ($ 46) if the firefighters see the unmowed grass again. According to Ananiev, the administration knew about his difficult situation and said that it was necessary to ask someone for help. The man did just that, but after the incident.
Ananiev fell under a train in 1977, as a result of which he is now confined to a wheelchair. He lives alone, social workers have not visited him for six months already.
General’s son Mikhail Sal’nikov, Professor of the Department of Theory of Government and Law at the St. Petersburg University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Russian Federation, has been detained for real estate fraud. Amid other corruption crimes hitting the headlines, this offense does not seem a high-profile one. But the point is that this is not the first criminal case instituted against professor Sal’nikov, and he is not the only relative of MIA general Viktor Sal’nikov having problems with the law.
