Bashkiria police officers detained for beating detainee

Operatives tried to make the man confess to illegal hunting.

A criminal case has been initiated against two police officers of the Ermekeevsky district of Bashkortostan for beating a detainee. This is reported by the regional ICR's press service.

It was found during the investigation that in October this year, two officers of the MIA department in the Ermekeevsky district detained a 29-year-old man, suspecting him of illegal hunting. After taking him to the police department, they began to beat him, forcing him to confess. Later, the man was released.

Law enforcers were detained by officers of the FSB Directorate in the Republic of Bashkortostan.

A criminal case under item “a” part 3 of Art. 286 of the Russian Criminal Code (Exceeding Official Powers committed with the use of violence by police officers) has been initiated against the operatives.

The suspects are currently under house arrest. The investigation into the criminal case is ongoing.
