Author of Telegram channel about protests in Ingushetia arrested in drug case
No traces of illegal substances were found in the suspect’s blood, who reported torture.
Ingushetia’s Magassky District Court placed the author of the FortangaORG Telegram channel, Rashid Maysigov, into custody for two months, MBKh Media reports, referring to lawyer Magomed Aushev Maysigov is suspected of drug possession (part 2 of Article 228 CCRF).
“Handwipes were positive, the blood test was negative,” the publication quotes Maysigov’s lawyer as saying.
The lawyer intends to require a genetic examination of the nails and hair. In addition, his client told about the use of torture to him: “something was tied to the ears, I got electrocuted.” As a result, Maysigov pleaded guilty.
Maysigov was detained on July 12 at his home. A month earlier, Maysigov quit journalism because of threats from unknown persons. FortangaORG reported about the protests that occurred after the redistribution of the border between Chechnya and Ingushetia, as well as local activists’ activities.
