Another Yaroslav prison torturer detained
The colony employee poured water on the prisoner in the video of the beating.
Law enforcement authorities have detained another suspect in the beating of prisoner in Yaroslavl IK-1 Evgeny Makarov. Sipan Mamoyan poured water on him. TASS cites lawyer of the victim from the Public Verdict Foundation Irina Biryukova.
“Sipan Mamoyan, the senior security officer of the executive department of the Yaroslavl colony No. 1, was detained. He hated Evgeny Makarov. On the shots with the torture of Evgeny in the summer of 2017, Mamoyan poured water on him during the beating,” the news agency quoted Biryukov as saying.
A video of torture was published by Novaya Gazeta on July 20, 2018. On the record, a group of colony workers beats up Makarov. The ICR initiated a criminal case on abuse of power by employees of IK-1. 17 employees of the colony were suspended from work, 13 of them were arrested by the court, and one was put under house arrest. Then the investigative authorities initiated three more cases over Makarov’s torture in Yaroslavl colonies No. 1 and No. 8, uniting them. On October 2 Makarov was released.
It concerns entrepreneur Dmitry Motorin, Boris Usherovich, a co-owner of the Group of Companies 1520, and Novoe Vremya board member, Ivan Stankevich. Motorin is accused of giving a bribe on an especially large scale, and Stankevich and Usherovich are charged with bribe-taking.

If the court upholds the stance of the state prosecution, the once-influential criminal ‘authority’ may be convicted to almost 25 years behind bars.
