Another lawsuite filed against former MP Voronenkov shot dead in Kiev
Businessman Otari Kobakhidze who filed the lawsuit stated that the defendant’s murder is staged.
Entrepreneur Otari Kobakhidze demanded 18 million rubles ($ 270,000) from Denis Voronenkov, the ex-deputy of the Russian State Duma and husband of Maria Maksakova. The latter was shot in Kiev. Kobakhidze, from whom the deceased allegedly tried to illegally seize property, is sure that Voronenkov’s murder is staged to fool creditors, MK reports.
“Voronekov cannot be a defendant since he is dead and cannot attend the hearing,” lawyer Andrey Grivtsov told the publication.
According to Grivtsov, the Kobakhidze’s lawsuit has no prospects, but the entrepreneur can file a lawsuit against the relatives of the ex-deputy.
It is to be recalled that in 2014, Voronenkov was suspected of a raider seizure of a building worth about $ 5 million. The property belonged to Kobakhidze, until in 2011, when the fraudsters forged relevant documents. The building was returned to the initial owner, and two FSB officers were put in jail. The convicts testified against Voronenkov, and at that time deputy disappeared in Ukraine with his wife Maksakova. On March 23, 2017, Voronenkov was shot in the center of Kiev.
According to Kobakhidze, the day before the murder, Voronenkov called him and asked to learn from the investigators about the possibility of plea bargain. The ex-deputy allegedly was going to plead guilty and surrender other accomplices unknown to the investigation.
The Investigations Directorate in the Leningrad Region of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation (ICR) is going through turbulent times. After an unexpected replacement of the supreme command, the winds of change started blowing. Colonel of justice Pavel Vymenets, the new acting head of the agency, launched personnel reshuffles. According to sources, all means are used to purge the ranks from corrupt officers, including collection of compromising materials and denunciations.
