Accused of kidnapping arrested in south of Russia
The offender wanted to get 3 million rubles ($45.000) for the son of an entrepreneur.
In the Rostov region, a court arrested a 51-year-old native of Krasnodar Territory, whom the investigation accused of kidnapping committed 18 years ago (part 3 of Article 127 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation). The defendant is known as a member of the Union of Artists of the Russian Federation Valery Tsukakhin, but, according to the investigation, the name is fictitious. It is reported by the ICR in the region.
According to investigators, in October 2000, the accused and his friend kidnapped the entrepreneur’s son and held him for 55 days in the basement of one of the houses in Novoshakhtinsk awaiting a ransom of 3 million rubles. The criminals received the money and fled, but one of them was later found and jailed.
Tsukakhin was detained in December 2018 in the city of Suvorov, Tula region, where the artist lived in a civil marriage with a local woman. By this time he was on the federal wanted list.
