100 people detained for organizing illegal gambling network in Moscow
Bookmakers accepted bets.
Investigators of Moscow ICR conducted a large-scale operation, revealing one of the largest criminal groups that organized a network of illegal casinos in Moscow. After the searches, more than a hundred people were detained, the press service of the capital's ICR reported.
Gambling places have operated since May 2016. Illegal casinos kept as bookmakers - GreenBet, UnionBet and WinLine, all of them were part of Panorama.
For two years the network has expanded to 15 gaming clubs and casinos. Law enforcement officers conducted searches in these premises, and also on more than 80 addresses - in offices and apartments. More than 100 people were detained, 47 of them will soon be charged. It is specified that head of the criminal community Bazhanov was among the detainees.
"There was strict secrecy, the grassroots members of the gang did not know the leaders with whom they got in touch via modern IP telephony and messengers, the roles of the accomplices were clearly distributed, there was a strict hierarchy, the leader of the criminal organization knew a limited number of accomplices from among proximate and trusted persons," the ICR reported.
The underground casinos earned hundreds of millions of rubles per month. The leaders of the group could afford to buy the elite real estate and premium cars.
A criminal case has been initiated against them under parts 1, 2 of the Criminal Code of Art. 210 of the Criminal Code - for the organization of the criminal community and participation in it. Investigators united 12 criminal cases.

Who has initiated the sweeping purge of the watchdog authority? And what high-profile corruption cases are forthcoming?
