Zhirinovsky speaks of reports on reform of State Duma elections

The leader of the Liberal Democratic Party questioned the plans of the Kremlin to change the system of formation of the lower chamber.

LDPR Chairman Vladimir Zhirinovsky is confident that the mixed system of elections to the Duma - 50 to 50 - will remain in 2021. Bloomberg earlier wrote, citing its sources, that the Kremlin plans to reduce the proportion of State Duma deputies elected on party lists from 50% to 25%, and most of the United Russia will go as self-promoted.

“In 2021, a mixed election system of 50 to 50 will remain. At the same time, according to party lists, United Russia will most likely gain 20% or 30%, and in single-mandate constituencies, about 150 deputies and, possibly, will receive a simple majority in the State Duma. This is our prediction for future elections to the State Duma,” Zhirinovsky wrote in his telegram channel.
