VIP shower built in colony well-known for violence against prisoners

The human rights activist said that the construction materials were bought at the expense of the “prags.”

A VIP shower room for “kingpin” prisoners was built in the penal colony No. 9 of the Perm Region with the money and by “prags.” This was reported by the portal Gulagu.net which published a video with the shower. According to the head of the public organization, Vladimir Osechkin, extortion of money from the latter and their relatives took place with the consent of the head of the colony, Salim Abdurakhmanov.

“If you happen to be in the colony, you will work from 8 to 23 for 6 days a week for 50 rubles ($ 0.8). And you’ll wash once a week,” Osechkin wrote on Facebook.

The human rights activist noted that most prisoners have the opportunity to go to the bathhouse only once a week, and convicts with low social status built the VIP-shower “in their free time from cleaning toilets.”

Recently, there were three high-profile cases in IK-9 of the Perm Region: the prisoner Dmitry Sergeyev was raped, another prisoner committed suicide, the third one was brutally beaten, which resulted in a broken jaw.
