Spokesman of deputy prime minister Trutnev explains reason for his high income
The presidential plenipotentiary in the Far Eastern Federal District declared the highest income among the members of the Russian government.
Timur Chernyshev, a spokesman of the Vice Prime Minister and Plenipotentiary of the President of Russia in the Far Eastern Federal District, Yury Trutnev, who declared 538.4 million rubles ($ 8,3) in revenue for 2018, told Life that the latter sold part of his property, and also kept the savings from the business he was engaged in before starting the state service.
According to Chernyshev, the Vice PM’s business savings serve him as a “safety cushion” against corruption. In 2018, Trutnev indicated in the declaration an amount exceeding the previous by 161.4 million rubles ($ 2,5 million), and turned out to be the wealthiest member of the Russian Government. The second place in terms of annual income was taken by the head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, Denis Manturov, who reported 443.4 million rubles ($ 6,9 million) of annual income.
According to estimates of Vedomosti, in 2018 the total income of members of the Russian Government decreased by 2.7 times compared with 2017: 1.9 billion rubles ($ 29,5 million) against 5.1 billion rubles ($ 79 million).
The cadets have been found guilty of an Attempt at Murder by a Group of Persons by Previous Concert and for Mercenary Reasons (part 3 of Art. 30, part 2 of Art. 105 of the Russian Criminal Code). They do not plead guilty.
