Senator from Karelia conceals elite apartment in Moscow, media
Igor Zubarev is listed as a founder of the company which bought the apartment.
Member of the Federation Council from Karelia and the United Russia party Igor Zubarev did not indicate an elite apartment of 211 sq. m. m in the residential complex Legends of Tsvetnoy, Moscow, in his income and property declaration. The apartment was bought last year by Severny Dom LLC. Igor Zubarev is listed as its founder, the Sobesednik newspaper writes.
“Real estate objects the ownership title to which belongs to legal entities does not fall into the income declaration. In its closed part, only shares in commercial enterprises are indicated, but again – no apartments. And it is not required to explain the origin of funds for their purchase. This leaky system, which exists in Russia, allows you to move away from declaring property. Proving the use of the apartment is almost impossible,” Ilya Shumanov, deputy head of Transparency International Russia, explained.
In his declaration for 2018, Zubarev indicated four houses and three apartments belonging to him, but the one bought in November 2018 by the mention company, registered in Petrozavodsk does not appear there. At the same time, Severny Dom LLC was founded in September 2018, when Zubarev, as a senator, had no right to conduct business.
