Security Council announces the US plans to participate in Ufa security officials meeting

The meeting will be held in Ufa on 18-20 June. The government representatives will discuss the issue of hybrid threats.

Alexander Venediktov, the Deputy Secretary of the Security Council of Russia, said that a US representative would attend the international security meeting in Ufa. He stated this in an interview with Rossiyskaya Gazeta.

“In recent years, the Americans did not participate in our event. However, we expect to meet them at a meeting in Ufa,” he said.

Venediktov added that he had confirmed the arrival of one of the directors of the US National Security Council staff. According to the deputy secretary, this is a "constructive signal" from Washington that the United States is ready for dialogue.

The meeting will be held in Ufa on 18-20 June. The government representatives will discuss the issue of hybrid threats. Venediktov noted that it includes the topics of aggressive propaganda, diplomatic pressure, cyber attacks, the undermining of the national economy, and others.

At the same time, Venediktov confirmed that a meeting of the security councils secretaries of Russia, the US and Israel is planned at the end of June. The newspaper Asharq Al-Awsat wrote that there would be a meeting between adviser to the US President for National Security John Bolton, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolay Patrushev and Chairman of the National Security Council of Israel Meir Ben-Shabbat in June.

Sources of the publication reported that the parties are preparing a deal that involves the lifting of sanctions against Damascus in exchange for Russia's control of Iran’s role in Syria.
