The head of the republic, Rashid Temrezov, does not intend to resign yet.
The new presidential plenipotentiary in the North Caucasian Federal District, Alexander Matovnikov, arrived in Karachay-Cherkessia (KChR) on a working visit. Officially, he takes part in the North Caucasus Civil Forum Arkhyz XXI. However, as noted by various sources, one of the main issues will be the scandal in the republic.
At the end of June, law enforcement officers conducted searches and seizure of documents in the Ministry of Finance of the KChR. Subsequently, Minister of Finance of the Republic Rustam Elkanov left the Cabinet of Ministers, Muradin Kemov, Minister of Labor and Social Development of the region, resigned too. And on July 20, the day Matovnikov arrived, it became known about the resignation of KChR government chairman Enver Arpatly.
At the same time, the head of the KChR, Rashid Temrezov, stated that the resignations in the government are his personal decision and he does not intend to leave the post.
Some rumors about the 'shadow' government hit the media. Some experts even suggested that the republic will face a 'cleanup' following Dagestan's fate. Recall, after the appointment Vladimir Vasiliev the Dagestani Head, mass resignations began, part of the high-ranking officials are charged.
It is known that Matovnikov plans to meet with the heads of law enforcement agencies. And even if his visit does not lead to new personnel changes, it will result in power structure regulation.
Initially, the defendants in the case had been charged with embezzlement through swindling in the amount of 225 million rubles ($3.3 million). In the final version of the indictment, the article was changed to 1.5-billion-ruble ($22.45 million) embezzlement.
