MIA colonel on how Prosecutor's Office puts pressure on investigators for sake of statistics

According to the silovik, prosecutors only need good record and statistics.

Prosecutors only need good record and statistics from MIA investigators, ‘blackmailing’ the police. A MIA colonel, who asked not to be named, told this Lenta.ru. According to him, in the past, the police could consult with the prosecution in order to properly register a case.

A city prosecutor once said during a MIA Main Directorate citywide board that he would prove to the police that the investigation could not cope with the work, and that all the materials received were dismissed under the pretext of procedural errors. In reality, the mistakes were formal, for example: “Incorrect margins, too thin,” or “the initials go before the last name, whereas it should be the other way around.” This resulted in one hundred percent case return.

“Or there is another extreme – at the meeting, they say to initiate 70% out of refusal cases. Although prosecutor understands there is no corpus delicti, and the case will be terminated in a month, he will still put pressure on investigators for the sake of good record. In general, for the last ten years, the prosecutor’s office has been doing nothing but blackmailing us – instead of helping,” the MIA colonel said.

He also said that the statistics are faked and cleaned up, and now these retouching has reached an incredible scale.
