Medvedev introduces bill on blocking pirate sites mirrors
In accordance with the bill search engine operators have the new obligation to remove information about URLs of website pages from search results.
Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev ordered to make amendments to the State Duma aimed at curbing illegal distribution and use of audiovisual works on the Internet.
"Due to this bill it is proposed to introduce term "derived site on the Internet" ("mirror") into Russian legislation to determine the order of extrajudicial limit of access to such sites", – the amendments state.
As specified in the bill there appears a new obligation for search engine operators to remove from search results information about URLs of pages, "which recurrently and illegitimately published information containing objects of copyright and (or) related rights, or information needed to obtain them with the help of information and telecommunication networks, access to which is limited on a constant basis following the decrees of court".
In early November 2017, Basmanny Court of Moscow has satisfied the motion brought by the Main Investigations Directorate in the City of Moscow of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation (ICR) and remanded Aleksander Shukyurov, Director of the Capital Renovation Directorate State Budgetary Institution of Moscow, in custody. The head of the institution subordinate to the Department of Capital Renovation of the City of Moscow that had acted as the client in tenders worth dozens of billions of rubles is suspected of swindling on an especially large scale.
