Mayor of Kazan ordered city deputies to eat for $1 per day in school canteens for month
This way officials are going to inspect school food.
Mayor of Kazan, Ilsur Metshin, following the meeting at the end of April on the problems of school food, signed a decree according to which the deputies of the City Duma will eat for 69 rubles a day in school canteens, the press service of the city administration reports.
"All May from Monday to Saturday we will have lunch in schools to inspect school food," said the mayor. According to him, 162 schools of Kazan will be divided between officials who will come for lunch without warning and spend no more than 69 rubles on food.
During the summer holidays, Kazan officials intend to identify school food problems and make changes. It is planned to involve parent committees in the work.
Earlier, the media in Tatarstan reported that food in Kazan schools became more expensive. So, lunch for primary students began to cost 66 rubles, and two meals 92 rubles, reports TatCenter. For students in grades 5-11, lunch costs 69 rubles.
