Main fighter against extremism fired from MIA due to undeclared 7 years ago real estate in Bulgaria
The official reason for the resignation of the head of the Main MIA Directorate for Countering Extremism, Timur Valiulin, has not yet been called.
The head of the Main Directorate of the MIA for countering extremism, Timur Valiulin, has been relieved of his post, TASS reports citing sources in law enforcement agencies. The decree was signed by Russian President Vladimir Putin.
The fact that the chief of the Main MIA Directorate for Countering Extremism, Major General of Police Timur Valiulin submitted his resignation, said on December 26 the head of the ministry Vladimir Kolokoltsev, calling Valiulin’s departure “purely personnel issues.”
The reasons for the resignation and the wording with which the general leaves the ranks of the Ministry of Internal Affairs are not reported. However, according to informed sources of Kommersant, the departure of General Valiulin is related to the property in Bulgaria that was not mentioned in the declaration for 2011. The two apartments and the garage in Bulgaria sold in 2012 became known after the divorce proceedings of the general in the spring of 2018.
Later Lenta.ru, with reference to its source, wrote about the scandal that erupted in the family of the general. It was reported that the spouse of the Major-General, who also served in the MIA, learned about his infidelities and wrote a letter to Valiulin’s leadership, where she described gross violations of the law committed by her husband.
General Valiulin has served in the internal affairs agencies since 1988. He was appointed Head of the Main MIA Directorate for Countering Extremism in September 2012.
Prior to joining the Main MIA Directorate for Countering Extremism Timur Valiulin worked in the metropolitan police. Under his leadership, in particular, the high-profile case of the terrorist attack on the Cherkizovsky market was investigated, several major nationalist groups were defeated, which committed dozens of murders and explosions. Also under the leadership of Valiulin, in 2008, with the support of special forces and helicopters, the famous “gathering” of thieves in law at the Pirogov reservoir in the Moscow region was dispersed.
The TASS source also confirmed the information about the resignation of the head of the Main Directorate for Migration Affairs of the MIA, Olga Kirillova, whom The CrimeRussia reported on several days ago. The TASS source noted that General Kirillova left her post at her own will.
Six months ago, no one could predict the state of the MIA General Administration for St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region by the time of the forthcoming elections. After the appointment of Moscow general Roman Plugin in charge of it, the St. Petersburg police has undergone significant changes. Major general of justice Oleg Antropov, Head of the Main Investigations Directorate, is ‘the last man standing’ from the old command of the MIA General Administration. Most probably, he is going to become the next victim of ‘janitor’ Plugin.
