Kudrin says that after his inspections 40 generals lost their posts
The former head of the Ministry of Finance intends to be strict in implementing service regulations.
Head of the Center for Strategic Initiatives Alexey Kudrin commented on his nomination for the post of head of the Russian Audit Chamber. Speaking at a meeting of the committee on regulations in the State Duma, he said that his connections in the government and business would not cause problems in his new position.
The former minister also noted that he intends to adhere to service regulations strictly. As an example, he cited the audit he conducted as head of the presidential control department in 1996. According to Kudrin, as a result of the inspection, 40 generals in the Ministry of Internal Affairs and Ministry of Defense were deprived of their posts.
It is to be added that the candidacy of Kudrin for the post of head of the Audit Chamber was proposed earlier by Russian President Vladimir Putin. The State Duma will consider the appointment of the ex-minister as the AC chairman on May 22.
Major general Igor Vasiliev, Head of the Engineering Support Service of the Federal Protection Service (FPS), and lieutenant general Ulitin subordinate to him are currently in the middle of a scandal. However, it is unlikely that they lose their posts. Reportedly, the two generals are just the tip of the huge corruption iceberg in the law enforcement structures. This is not the first embezzlement episode in their careers.
