Police officers in Nizhnevartovsk plan to write a complaint to Police Ombudsman community. The leadership calls the actions of the police blackmail.

Nizhnevartovsk police officers are protesting against the constant overtime work, which is not paid, reports Ura.ru with reference to one of the police officers.

The interlocutor of the agency said that several employees had appealed to the leadership of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia for Nizhnevartovsk with a request to pay them or give days off for extra hours. In response to the request, they received a “rejection in a harsh manner.”

“The chief just flipped us off, explaining that according to the law he can provide only time off, but we will not receive even it because there is no one to work,” said the policeman.

The police said the leadership that they were going to complain about the situation to the Police Ombudsman community in VKontakte social network. The administration of this group is engaged in the protection of the rights of law enforcement officers. The press service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia in Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug-Yugra called the actions of employees blackmail.

“There is no point in blackmailing, of course, but it is necessary to sort out the situation. Indeed, people have long-term vacations due to the nature of service in our region. Sometimes, they may reach up to 55 days or more. There are also seek leaves. As a result, all police officers have overtime work, but usually the issue is settled, an agreement is reached, people get time off,” said the Head of the press service Olga Abmaykina.
