Head of Karachay-Cherkessia says investigation does not work with in Arashukovs’ case
Senator is charged with murder and gas swindling.
President of the Karachay-Cherkessia Republic Rashid Temrezov assured that investigators did not interrogate him in the case of senator Rauf Arashukov, who is accused of two murders and involvement in the criminal community of his father Raul Arashukov. In addition, the head of the republic explained at a forum in Sochi that, according to the law, he could not recall Arashukov from the Federation Council until the court finds the senator guilty.
“The investigation does not work with me. And what could my testimony be? There was a decision made by the national assembly deputies, the parliament, to delegate Arashukov to the Federation Council,” Temrezov told the TV channel 360.
Arashukov was detained at a closed meeting of the Federation Council, at which General Prosecutor Yuri Chaika announced the investigation’s suspicions regarding the senator. Following Rauf Arashukov, his father, cousin Ruslan, and several top managers of the southern divisions of Gazprom Mezhregiongaz were detained.
