Head of Dagestan instructs to check reports on extortions from truckers at customs
Acting Head of Dagestan Vladimir Vasilyev has instructed to check the information on problems at the customs terminal on the border with Azerbaijan, which, it is reported, are connected with unlawful extortions from truckers.
Yesterday, Derbent reported about queues at the Viaduk customs terminal in the Magaramkent district. According to drivers, phytosanitary and customs officials extorted money for inspection and check of their cargoes. Truckers refused to pay and organized a boycott.
The inspection, commissioned by Vladimir Vasilyev, was to help relieve tension at the checkpoint, ensure the stable and legitimate activities of all parties, and prevent long-term downtime of cargo carriers.
Ismail Efendiev is suspected of exceeding authority in connection with the investigation of cases of detained earlier former First Deputy Prime Minister Ramazan Aliyev and nephew of the former head of Dagestan Askhabali Abdulatipov. Searches are being conducted at Efendiev's office and house.
The disappearance of an elderly Muscovite, who owns three rooms on Ostozhenka Street, and her disabled son, worried the neighbors, but the police refused to initiate criminal proceedings on their application. Housing in the elite area of the capital in the meantime was re-registered to a resident of St. Petersburg, who introduced herself as their relative.
