Governor of Ryazan Region has resigned
Previously, three governors have resigned.
Governor of Ryazan Region Oleg Kovalev filed an early resignation to Russian President Vladimir Putin.
"In the Ryazan region I worked for almost nine years. In September, the region will hold elections of the Governor... I had resolved not to run for a new term," TASS quotes Mr. Kovalev's words told at the meeting of the regional Government.
Previously, three governors have resigned: heads of the Novgorod, Buryatia and Perm regions - Sergey Mitin, Vyacheslav Nagovitsyn and Viktor Basargin. It is expected that Governor of Karelia Alexander Khudilainen will leave the post too.
The investigation found that Alibek Karaketov pushed for the theft of 15 of the 49 million rubles ($718.400) allocated for the implementation of the state program for the development of culture and tourism.
