Former FSB officers will not be able to travel abroad

The restriction may last five years from the date of dismissal from service. The decision-making procedure remains at the discretion of the FSB.

The State Duma adopted a bill restricting the right of former FSB officers to travel abroad in the second reading, the Rosbalt correspondent reports.

According to the draft law, the restriction may last five years from the date of dismissal from service. The decision-making procedure remains at the discretion of the FSB, follows from the document.

The current law prohibits the FSB officers from traveling abroad during military service, and after dismissal, this cannot be done only by those who had access to information of special importance or top secret information. Deputies argued the introduction of the new ban with a “tense international situation.” At the same time, Georgian and Ukrainian special services are conducting the most active work to identify the former FSB officers abroad, the State Duma said.
