Former chairman of Yaroslavl Regional Duma fined for gorgeous banquet on budget money
$ 8,000 were spent to celebrate the end of the work of convening the Legislative Assembly.
Yaroslavl’s Kirovsky District Court fined the former chairman of the regional council, Mikhail Borovitsky, 20,000 rubles ($ 315) for organizing a banquet for 500,000 rubles ($ 8,000) allocated from the budget. Borovitsky pleaded innocent and intends to challenge the decision of the court, 76.ru writes.
“It was a traditional event dedicated to the completion of the work of the VI convocation of the Yaroslavl Regional Duma, where all the deputies of this and previous convocations were invited, summarized the work done, got awarded. There was no misuse of budget money,” Borovitsky said.
The banquet took place in the Yubileinaya hotel of Yaroslavl. Not only local deputies, but federal politicians were invited to the celebration.
