According to the press secretary of the ministry, Minister Larisa Gimazutina had held several meetings before the live broadcast on Abakan-24.

Education Minister of Khakassia, Larisa Gimazutina, confused the author of the play Woe from Wit “because of fatigue and emotions,” the department’s press service said, according to Govorit Moskva.

“Education Minister Larisa Nikolayevna Gimazutina was live at half past nine in the evening. This needs to be taken into account. Before that, she had held a series of meetings and on the eve of the broadcast, she had an interview with a reporter about the successful production of Alexander Griboyedov’s Woe from Wit by a school drama class of Sorsk. She might have been tired, emotional and nervous, so she misnamed the author on air,” said Marina Sergeyeva, the spokeswoman for the republic’s Ministry of Education.

Yesterday, the minister said on the air of TV channel Abakan-24 that Alexander Radishchev wrote Woe from Wit, while it was, in fact, Alexander Griboyedov. He wrote the play in 1822–1824 and it is, as well as Radishchev’s works, included in the school curriculum.
