Ex-Head of Nizhny Novgorod region explained his resignation with President’s new strategy
According to Valery Shantsev, Vladimir Putin decided to “built a new team”.
Former Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region Valery Shantsev commented on his resignation, explaining it with the decision of the President to change the strategy and to built a new team, Interfax reports.
“A team of governors is a team of the President of Russia. And the President makes decisions when it is expedient. He [Vladimir Putin] decided to make up a new strategy and new team,” Shantsev told at a briefing.
According to the former Head of the region, he anyway has worked “enough, over a retirement age.”
To recall, Putin signed the decree on Shantsev's resignation on Tuesday, September 26. Shortly before it, the former Head of the region had been awarded an order For Merit to the Fatherland of the 2nd Class.
Meanwhile, sources of RBC report that about 10 governors will be replaced in regions in a threshold of a presidential campaign.
The Kuybyshevsky District Court of St. Petersburg is to consider the third case against Barsukov (Kumarin), as part of which he is charged with criminal community creation. Previously, the 'night governor of St. Petersburg' had been held in the Moscow's Matrosskaya Tishina pre-trial detention center. It is also reported that Barsukov is to be questioned in the case of Galina Starovoytova's murder.
