Ex-deputy minister of Industry of Penza region pleads guilty of swindling and bribery
Earlier, the court placed the former official under house arrest.
Former Deputy Minister of Industry, Transport and Innovation Policy of the Penza region and Head of Transport Service, Aleksey Antipov, pleaded guilty of Swindling (part 3 of Art. 159) and Bribe-Taking (part 3 of Art. 290) at the first court hearing on the merits, TASS reports. The case was considered by the Leninsky District Court of Penza.
Antipov was detained on October 31, 2018 while receiving a bribe of 100 thousand rubles ($1,543) from a local entrepreneur for help in obtaining a government contract for passenger transportation. During the investigation of the bribery case, the investigation found out that from October 2017 to September 2018, the ex-official received 346 thousand rubles ($5,340) from the same entrepreneur. For this remuneration, Antipov promised to achieve a reduction in the number of inspections of the businessman’s enterprise on the part of state road supervision.
In November 2018, the court placed Antipov under house arrest.
The cadets have been found guilty of an Attempt at Murder by a Group of Persons by Previous Concert and for Mercenary Reasons (part 3 of Art. 30, part 2 of Art. 105 of the Russian Criminal Code). They do not plead guilty.
