Defense Ministry creates new post for Yevkurov - overseeing combat training and flight safety
Yevkurov is to become one of Shoigu’s deputies.
The media found out the details of the employment of Yunus-bek Yevkurov, the former head of Ingushetia, who has been moved to the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation as Shoigu’s deputy.
The position was created specifically for Yevkurov – the post is not there at the moment, Izvestia said citing sources. He will be responsible for combat training and flight safety.
The Major General, who took part in several military campaigns, will be in charge of the Main Directorate of Combat Training and the Flight Safety Service of the Air Force of the Russian Federation. Yevkurov’s appointment procedure may take one to two months, said the publication's interlocutors.
Earlier, The CrimeRussia reported Yevkurov’s resignation from the post of Ingushetia head. Some said that the official had made the decision to resign against the background of ongoing protests in the region opposing the exchange of land with Chechnya. The day when Yevkurov announced his resignation became a celebration for people with many taking to the streets, launching fireworks and dancing a lezginka.
On June 26, Russian President Vladimir Putin accepted Yevkurov’s resignation, thanking him for his work. Yevkurov led the region for 12 years. There is still no official confirmation that Yevkurov will become Shoigu's deputy.
