Case upon theft of $8.5m allocated for manufacture of equipment for cosmonauts initiated
According to the investigation, the money allocated to the Don branch of the Center for Simulator Engineering and Personnel Training was transferred to one-day firms and cashed.
The Investigative Committee initiated a criminal case on embezzlement of budget funds, which RSC Energiya allocated to the Center for Simulator Engineering and Personnel Training (TsTiPP), Rosbalt reports. The center is engaged in the development and production of most of the equipment for cosmonauts’ training.
According to sources of the edition in law enforcement agencies, 500 million rubles ($8.5m) are mentioned in the case. This amount was allocated to the Don branch of the Center for the Development and Production of Innovative Cosmonaut Training Complexes for activities in open space and possible work on the surfaces of the Moon, Mars and asteroids. As a subcontractor, the center attracted Mercury JSC, to which the named amount was transferred. According to the investigation, after that, the money was transferred to one-day firms and cashed.
It is noted that at the present time the trial of executives of Mercury Alexander Polyakov and Alexey Diorditsa upon another case began. Together with several other defendants, they are accused of embezzling 367 million rubles ($6.2m) allocated for the production of detailed assembling units for the Glonass-M spacecraft.
