The saved money will be allocated for the departments’ academy.

In the ICR departments in 64 regions of Russia, each manager will lose a deputy, and the saved funds will be redirected to the creation of four branches of the Investigative Committee’s St. Petersburg Academy and one cadet corps. At that, the lay-offs will not affect the ICR’s department in St. Petersburg, Fontanka reports.

Earlier in the ICR for St. Petersburg, 80 positions were laid off when creating the Investigative Committee’s St. Petersburg Academy and the cadet corps. However, the ICR for the Leningrad Region and the ICR’s North-West Investigation Directorate for the transport will be affected by the changes, the Petersburg publication reports.

In November 2018, Bastrykin talked about plans to increase the number of investigators and create new departments: to investigate banditry, organized criminal activities and crimes of past years, as well as departments that specialize in juvenile crimes, medical crimes, and international and federal search of the wanted.
