Basmanny district administration’s ex-head Salman Dadayev becomes new Makhachkala mayor
Most deputies voted for him.
The former Head of the administration of Basmanny district of Moscow, Salman Dadayev, was elected the new Mayor of Makhachkala, reports RIA Novosti with reference to the Chairman of the City Assembly of the capital of Dagestan.
According to the official, Dadayev was favored by 39 out of 45 deputies of the Assembly.
Salman Dadayev was approved as the candidate for Mayor of Makhachkala in December 2018. This was reported by the Head of Dagestan, Vladimir Vasilyev. The previous Mayor, Musa Musayev, was detained as part of a large-scale anti-corruption operation. The Soviet District Court of Makhachkala sentenced him to four years in prison without the right to assume leadership posts for three years.
Salman Dadayev headed the administration of Basmanny district since May 2017. Prior to that, he was the first Deputy Head of Khoroshevo-Mnevniki district’s administration, and earlier, from September 2012 to September 2014, he served as first Deputy Head of Sokolniki district’s administration on economics, construction, housing and utilities, and improvement. From March 2010 to March 2012, he was the first Deputy Head of the administration of Metrogorodok district on housing policy and housing and communal services. Since July 2004, he held the position of leading lawyer with the administration of Metrogorodok district.
Mass protest rallies have been taking place in Moscow on a regular basis since the beginning of this summer. People are protesting for lots of different reasons. However, the reaction of the law enforcement authorities is always the same: repression. What is the reason behind the brutality shown during the dispersion of mass rallies? A conscious intimidation policy or incompetence of law enforcement functionaries escalating the violence and unable to imagine the potential consequences of this?
