Arashukov has not reported income and may lose his powers
The senator had to file a declaration before April 1.
Arrested senator Rauf Arashukov, who is accused of murder and swindling, did not file an income declaration by April 1, which gave the Federation Council grounds for divest him of authority, RBC writes. According to Russian law, the decision should be taken after 30 days.
In mid-March, the court suspended Arashukov from the post of senator. The member of the Federation Council was taken into custody on charges of involvement in two murders, pressure on a witness and participation in a criminal community that stole natural gas worth 31 billion rubles ($ 475 million) from Gazprom. The investigators called the senator’s father, Raul Arashukov, the leader of the organized crime group. Together with them, a number of directors of Gazprom entities in southern Russia were sent to pre-trial detention facilities.
The cadets have been found guilty of an Attempt at Murder by a Group of Persons by Previous Concert and for Mercenary Reasons (part 3 of Art. 30, part 2 of Art. 105 of the Russian Criminal Code). They do not plead guilty.
