All staff of economic police department fired in St. Petersburg
After the unit is reorganized, most of them will be taken back.
All 340 employees have been fired for the reorganization of the economic security department of the Central Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in St. Petersburg, but most will be rehired, Fontanka reports. The staff will strengthen regional units in the meantime.
On August 22, police received notifications of "termination of the contract and dismissal from service in the internal affairs bodies of the Russian Federation." The reorganization of the department had been in plans for a long time, since Colonel Evgeny Ulyanov became the new head (previously, he headed the economic security department of the Southern Administrative District of the Central Directorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Moscow.
According to the St. Petersburg publication, the police department will be led by police Lieutenant Colonel Dmitry Kiprushev. Earlier, Kiprushev, 34, headed the anti-corruption department in Karelia and also had worked as an operative in it for a long time.
