Vologda region: former member of Public Chamber jailed for fraud
The case of Boris Khanchalyan was considered in a special order - he cooperated with the investigation.
Former member of the Public Chamber (OP) of Russia Boris Khanchalyan received three and a half years probation for fraud in an especially large amount. The criminal case was considered in a special order, the ICR in the Vologda region reports.
As it was established by the investigation, in December 2014 the convicted person offered to assist one of the organizations in the allocation of plots and the conclusion of a contract for sanitary cutting of wood with Vologdaleskhoz. For his services Khanchalyan received more than half a million rubles ($8.800) from the organization. At the same time, he hid that agreements between the forest farm and Vologdaleskhoz were concluded before the transfer of funds and without the participation of the accused.
It is noteworthy that the ex-member of the OP assisted an individual in the positive decision on the allocation of plots and the conclusion of a contract for the continuous sanitary felling of wood for the same amount. Boris Khanchalyan was detained in June 2016 when he received 2 million rubles ($35.000) from the director of another organization for rendering similar services.
On September 21, kingpin Vladimir Vagin, aka Vagon, hanged himself. Two years earlier another thief in law Max Pioner also committed suicide. Vagon's lawyer does not believe in the version of suicide and intends to apply for a forensic medical examination.
