United Aircraft Corporation vice-president arrested until December 9
The officers of the FSB and the ICR carried out searches in the apartment and office of the arrestee.
The Basmanny District Court of Moscow arrested deputy head of the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) Sergey Gerasimov, who is accused of large-scale Swindling (part 4 of Article 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) during the execution of state contracts for the Rossiya flight special squad, until December 9, the press service of the court reports.
According to investigators, Gerasimov embezzled money allocated for the maintenance of air conditioning systems for Tu-204, Tu-214 and Il-96 airliners from the Rossiya presidential squadron. Also, investigators are checking public procurement of Mi-8 helicopters' five additional power plants for evidence of the theft.
Gerasimov has been working in the UAC since January 2015: first as an advisor to the president of the company, and then his deputy for special purpose aviation activity. Gerasimov oversaw the delivery of supplies and repair of aircraft, its maintenance.
The air squadron number one in Russia ended up in the center of yet another scandal. It turned out that its special purpose aircraft are used, in addition to the national leaders, by outsiders. Uninvited passengers travel, stay in best hotels, and dine in deluxe restaurants at the budget expense. In fact, the discovery of stowaways on board is not the first scandal involving Russia Special Air Group that has been in distress for almost three years already. Why cannot the supreme FSB commanders using the official airplanes along with the Russian President sort out this mess?
Earlier, the management of the railway and the place of residence of its high-ranking employees were searched within the bribe case. Investigative actions against head of the railway Alexey Mironov were held in Moscow, where he was on a business trip.
