Two managers of Torpedo hockey club suspected of embezzling $ 200.000
At the beginning of the year, the CHL announced an early financial audit of the Nizhny Novgorod club.
Law enforcement officers detained executive director of Nizhny Novgorod’s Torpedo hockey club Sergey Malyutin and Natalia Yeremina, the director of the financial and legal department. They are suspected of embezzling 13 million rubles ($ 200.000) from the club’s box office (para. 4 of Article 160 CCRF), the regional ICR’s press service reports.
Yeremina was detained in Nizhny Novgorod at the doors of her office, and Malyutin was detained in the Vladimir Region, Kommersant-Privolzhye reports. In January 2019, the management of the Continental Hockey League warned Torpedo of the upcoming financial audit. According to NewsNN, in March, bailiffs filed seven new cases against the club for a total of 1.22 million rubles ($ 19.000).
In an interview with TASS the region’s governor Gleb Nikitin said that the regional budget is unable to support Torpedo, which costs up to 1.3 billion rubles ($ 20 million) a year.
General’s son Mikhail Sal’nikov, Professor of the Department of Theory of Government and Law at the St. Petersburg University of the Ministry of Internal Affairs (MIA) of the Russian Federation, has been detained for real estate fraud. Amid other corruption crimes hitting the headlines, this offense does not seem a high-profile one. But the point is that this is not the first criminal case instituted against professor Sal’nikov, and he is not the only relative of MIA general Viktor Sal’nikov having problems with the law.
