Saratov: police horses driven to exhaustion
A state contractor could appropriate the money saved on animal feed.
The prosecutor's office found violations in the care for horses of the Saratov police. The law enforcement agency assured that employees of a local entrepreneur look after their animals according to the established rules. However, on September 13, 10 out of 22 horses were to be written off due to exhaustion, RIA Novosti reports.
The state contract is executed by IE Sokolov; the horses are kept in the stables of the city hippodrome. The prosecutor's office has identified violations of veterinary legislation in the maintenance of service horses and the law on public procurement in the conclusion of contracts for the supply of animal feed. The police initiated a case “on the fact of fraudulent actions of employees of IE Sokolov” using their official position (part 3 of Article 159 CCRF). The violators face up to six years in a penal colony.
Sweeping purge of Novosibirsk governmental structures – clampdown on corruption ties between local elite clans and their ‘patrons’ in law enforcement agencies?
Two governmental structures – judicial and watchdog agencies – have been ‘decapitated’ in the Novosibirsk region. The sweeping purge of the Regional Prosecutor’s Office was not as severe as the media had reported – but the key figures have already been removed from office. In fact, the large-scale unscheduled inspection carried out by a commission dispatched by the Prosecutor General’s Office has just begun. Who else is going to resign ‘voluntarily’? Who has initiated the sweeping purge of the watchdog authority? And what high-profile corruption cases are forthcoming?
