Saratov deputy suspected of embezzling $288.9 thousand from Rostekh
The Sargorstroy enterprise of Alexey Polyansky received a state contract for the reconstruction of a Rostekh's plant without a tender, but never completed the works.
Deputy of the Saratov City Duma Alexey Polyansky was suspected of embezzling 19 million rubles ($288.9 thousand) from Rostekh, the press service of the Investigative Directorate of the ICR for the Penza region reports. Polyansky is charged with Swindling on an especially large scale fraud (part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
According to the investigation, Sargorstroy LLC, where Polyansky is listed as Director, won a state contract worth 255 million rubles ($3.8 m) for the reconstruction of a building of the plant Elektropribor Penza Production Association, which is part of the Rostekh state corporation, without a tender. From October to December 2017, the company was transferred over 19 million rubles ($288.9 thousand) for the supply of materials and equipment and the performance of works. The investigation believes that Polyansky stole the money transferred and “spent it at his own discretion,” thereby causing major damage to the company.
Yesterday, February 12, Polyansky was detained by employees of the Penza ICR's Main Directorate together with FSB operatives. The home of the deputy was searched, and he himself was taken to Penza. The question of taking him into custody is being considered, and his possible accomplices are being searched for.
The ICR has published photos of a private house, a snowmobile and a quad bike of Polyansky. The press service specified that the pictures were taken during the search.
