Released on bail developer Mikhail Babel hid abroad
In the autumn of last year a businessman was arrested on suspicion of fraud on an especially large amount.
Head of the NBM-Stroyservis development company Mikhail Babel, who was released on March of this year on $177.000 bail, fled abroad. According to Life, the businessman flew from Sheremetyevo to Tel Aviv.
At the moment, investigators are checking information from the press. Law enforcement authorities have to establish the exact location of Mikhail Babel.
As the CrimeRussia previously reported, the head of the NBM-Stroyservis development company was detained on November 27, 2016 on suspicion of organizing double sales in the Terletskiy Park residential complex on Novogireevskaya street in Moscow and the Western Gate of the Capital in Odintsovo district near Moscow. Babel was charged with part 4 of Art. 159 of the Criminal Code (Swindling on an especially large scale).
At the end of last year, the developer was declared bankrupt.
It is interesting that Babel was one of the Peresvet bank's main mutuary. Sources of RBC reported that the debt of businessman's companies to the bank can reach 12 billion rubles ($213m).
The prosecutors want the former Russian Federation Council member to go to prison for 14 years instead of 9 and pay a 500-million-ruble ($8.8 million) fine instead of 70 million rubles ($1.2 million).
