Regional Administration member fails to confirm source of income, hands over expensive auto to State
Saratov Regional Court upheld the decision of the Balakovo District Court, which deprived the municipal administration member, who had been unable to confirm the source of income, of her Lexus RX350 automobile. The car was passed into the ownership of the state.
This sum of money exceeds the total income of the official and her husband for the last three years. The administration employee, whose name was not disclosed, tried to appeal the decision of the district court, but the regional court left it unchanged, and the judicial act has already come into force.
According to the Federal Law "On Combating Corruption," public servants are required to complete declarations not only on their income but also on their expenses. If any discrepancies are found between the two figures, the officials may lose unfairly acquired property.
