Penitentiary Service Deputy Head accused of supplying spoiled meat to prisoners

The Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation instituted criminal proceedings against Deputy Head of the FSIN Department in the Moscow region Mergen Mushaev. The tender for the purchase of meat for colony-settlement No. 2 in the Moscow region was announced in 2016. The winner of the competition was FSUE Industrial House of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia. When the products were delivered, it turned out that most of the meat products were already spoiled and inedible.
Investigators that Murgen Mushaev knew that the products were inedible, but gave the order to deliver the goods and pay the bill for it.
In relation to the unidentified managers of the enterprise, which supplied the spoiled meat, a criminal case was opened on the fraud article. A criminal case against Murgen Mushaev was initiated under abuse of authority.
According to the Russian MIA’s spokesperson, Maria Zakharova, the detention of Russian woman Maria Butina in the US was specifically timed to coincide with the summit of Putin and Trump in order to minimize the effect of the presidents’ meeting.
