Notorious lawyer of celebs and VIP-wives Pashayev arrested for extortion
Lawyer's clients claim that he charged rather high fees for his services, but lost cases.
Mytishchi City Court of the Moscow region elected a preventive measure for Head of international law firm Elman Group Pashayev in the form of custody for two months. He is suspected of committing extortions.
According to the investigation, the client of Pashayev is a former Muscovite lady, now a US citizen, Svetlana Tverskaya.
In 2015, she was put on the international wanted list for illegal seizure of two non-residential premises in the center of Moscow. In 2017 she was detained in the UAE and extradited to Russia. In February 2018, Pashayev achieved the change of restraint measure for home arrest. Afterwards, the lawyer started the exert pressure on the founder of portal Dolgi.ru, Dashevsky, requiring from him $230 thousand for the allegedly not performed obligation in connection with the story of Tverskaya. Dashevsky turned to the police, after which Pashayev was rounded up on suspicion of extortion.
According to the sources of Rosbalt, this is not the only case, in which Pashayev may become a defendant. The law enforcement agencies, according to the interlocutor, have a whole stack of statements from former clients of the notorious lawyer.
The applicants accuse Pashayev of charging high fees for his services - the prices are from 5 million rubles ($80.5 thousand) - and losing the cases.
In particular, Pashayev did not meet the expectations of the former Head of the Federal Migration Service department for South Butovo district, Alexey Arsenovich. The latter was detained in 2014 for taking money for registrations. Pashayev guaranteed that Arsenovich would be punished in the form of a fine or a suspended sentence. In reality, Zyuzinsky court sentenced the official to four years and six months in a colony and a fine of 2.5 million rubles ($40.2 thousand).
A few days ago, Arsenovich filed a statement with the Internal Affairs Directorate for the Central Administrative District with a demand to bring a case against Pashayev under Art. 159 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Swindling).
Also the name of Pashayev was mentioned in the story with the divorce of Anna Lavrentyeva and assistant to the State Duma deputy Alexander Ugnich. The lawyer bought half the house on Rublyovka, which used to belong to the Ugnichs, from the client, and then disseminated information in the media that unknown persons, accompanied by the authorized representative of the Chechen Republic under President of Russia, Adlan Magomadov, broke into his house and beat him and his family members.
Due to numerous complaints against Pashayev, he was deprived of his lawyer status thrice. As a result, he began to act as a lawyer and Head of Elman Group, founded by him.
